Yao Ming, China's most famous export, signed up for another team. This time the goal is to save sharks. Sharks have been feared and hated for being man-eaters. Truth is, sharks are under the relentless attack from shark-eaters. Or at least sharks fin soup sippers. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization about 100 million sharks are caught each year with over 10,000 tons of shark fins traded annually. How many people are eaten by sharks? It's about 10 every year around the world. In fact, more people are killed by falling coconuts (150) annually than sharks.

Today 110 species of sharks are endangered of being wiped off mainly because of the soup. That's enough for Yao Ming to say no to sharks fin soup forever. "I pledge to stop eating sharks fin soup and will not do so under any circumstances," says Yao.  Other famous Chinese celebrities who joined Yao Ming's new team include Olympic gold medal winning gymnast Li Ning, and Chinese pop singer Liu Huan.
