We recently reported on the giant robot named Dextre which is the newest resident of the International Space Station. We just got word that astronauts aboard the station have just finished conducting tests on the machine.

The tests included Dextre's electronics, joints, and brakes. All in all, the robot passed in all tests except for the one that dealt with the wrist joint brakes on its left arm.

The program manager on the station said, however, that he wasn't alarmed. It was also reported that astronauts will further test the said wrist join brakes in the hopes that it will be at its optimum performance once it gets more worn in.

Dextre will also get additional tool holster and other accouterments. According to NASA, the robot will be used to to assist spacewalking astronauts and possibly someday take over some of the tougher chores, like lugging around big replacement parts.
