Climate change - Image 1While most of us are worried about the planet getting warmer and the polar caps melting, some are apparently looking at the bright side. Their battle cry? Climate change is natural and worse things have happened before.

According to an article published in Canada.com, the only thing constant with climate, as the case is with all things in the world, is change. The planet runs from hot to cold throughout the eons, and a lot of it depends on solar climate. The bottom line? Everything's fine and can't be helped, so just chill out.

The Canadian website reports that it was warmer by 3 degrees celsius 6,000 years ago and all ended up well leading to today. 10,000 years ago, the planet's temperature rose 100 times faster than it does today, and everything's all dandy when we came around.

It was also explained that even if resources are spent on reducing carbon dioxide emissions, the sun and cosmic rays ultimately determine how hot or cold it gets. The sun, according to the site, does not glow in constant fashion and there are such days when our home star is dimmer or brighter. When it's brighter, there is less rain, while when it dims down, cosmic rays penetrate the atmosphere and cause more cloud formation for more rain.

The article even suggested that as big of a concern as global warming is now, it might only be a matter of time before global cooling becomes an issue. That, of course, may be some millennia away as climate change takes its sweet time when it comes to showing us its different flavors. Will the woolly mammoths make a comeback? Who knows?

ya the earht is just overheating before the next ICE AGE! so if we dont stop this we will have an ice age and all die. (if you dont know how global warming=ice age do some research. global warming is a serious problem. and among the scientific community noone will deny that it is a problem. this guy is just an idiot.

» Global Warming is a problem...

I'd like some of those shrooms that person was on. He's basically telling us to keep emitting crap into the air and just watch as islands sink into the ocean and our coastlines flood over. You know Katrina was intesified because of a warmer climate, so we should all just let other hurricanes like that just run over us and shrug off the damage and loss of life. Does he even know that OUR global warming is being caused by human activity. Sure the Earth has natural global warming, but the global warming we are experiencing is syntheticly enhanced. It will take thousands of years for Earth to recover and by then we'd have 1) spent all the resources and moved to mars 2) killed off most of the species in the natural world. Good Job!

Prove that it's being caused by human activity. OH WAIT A BLOODY MINUTE, nobody on this planet can prove that. In fact, Mars and other planets are warming as well. No humans there. You know what's the most plentiful "greenhouse" gas out there? H2O vapor. What covers 70% of the planet's surface? (hint: it's not solid land)

You're basically saying that all the science is settled and we shouldn't even look at the real cause of the situation. That's why you're not a scientist.

 » Eventually...

Well eventually a big ass meteor will come to earth and wipe us all out of our misery (probably in another 2 - 3 million years? And that'll fix all of Earth's problems, it'll start a nice Ice Age and the Earth can start developing new species on it's surface. As far as the Earth's concern she's A-OK!

As for us. I think everyone is worried about the many hot spots on the Earth. Like wtf? I can't even ski or board locally in Ontario anymore. There's like NO SNOW in the winter. Like when was the last time Toronto saw a "White Christmas"? Like maybe 10 years ago? CO levels increase temperature it's a known fact! If we don't stop it we're all going to sofficate in our own *****, and it's going to hurt.

As a side note I'm Canadian, and this article is only one person's idea. I'm sure there are plenty of other Canadian who would think differently and provide different truths and proofs.

if a meteor doesn't hit us within the next 50 years we well never have to worry about meteors again because we well have the means to protect us also it is a possibility for a meteor to hit us in the next 30 years not 2-3 million years (if we can't stop a meteor in the next 2-3 million years than humans don't deserve to live)
also you use like way to much makes you seem like a person thats very stupid

anyways this is stupid to post obviously it's probably an oil company paying off people to say what they want them to say

"anyways this is stupid to post obviously it's probably an oil company paying off people to say what they want them to say"

Did you know that Al Gore is connected to a company selling carbon offset credits? What could he possibly have to gain from people worrying about "greenhouse gases"? You'll also find that many of the studies supporting the global warming theory are connected to groups profiting from the raised concern on this situation.

» Cosmic rays + sun's effect on global warming

The article is basically saying cosmic rays and a warming sun is causing global warming. However, solar activity has been steady since the 50's. This is confirmed by direct satellite measurements that find no rising trend since 1978, sunspot numbers which have leveled out since 1950, the Max Planck Institute reconstruction that shows irradience has been steady since 1950 and solar radio flux or flare activity which shows no rising trend over the past 30 years. Cosmic radiation has also shown no long term trend over the last 50 years.

 » Funny

God forbid someone actually has a theory that doesn't agree with the popular theory. Not many remember that back in the 70's and early 80's there was talk of a global cooling and the serious problem that was.

That's right, cause theories on climate change are always right, no matter what...and if someone doesn't agree with them, kill em.

 » thats great

thats great to challange an idea however popular vote always wins unless more facts are provided and plenty of facts lead to global warming were here there saying o the earth warms and cools natually while yes true it does not happen in the period of 100 years more like 500-thousands of years

How come everyone in the world is freakin ignorant, I mean come on! The worlds going to freeze over and just so that they won't have to deal it they make up lame excuses. And all the stupid politicians who are saying that Global warming is just a big fat lie are being ignorant too. How can it be a lie if we have proved it through science. We're all going to die if everyone doesn't learn how to not be stupid. And I don't mean take little steps like making shoes made out of better for the environment materials. Nobody gives a crap about those little changes, and I doubt the Earth does either. We have to make big changes if we're ever going to hope to see a better tomorrow.... Or at least a tomorrow where we're not living in an ice age.
