UFO sightings increase in UK, says society BEAMS - Image 1It should be remembered that UK's Ministry of Defense (MoD) has mentioned last year that it will be opening its UFO archives to the public.

Quite interestingly, one year after the announcement, UFO sightings in Britain have shot up drastically. Reports include sightings of clusters of up to 100 mysterious objects littered with bright lights and shaped in the form of a triangle.

Hilary Porter from British Earth and Aerial Mysteries Society (BEAMS) had this to say:

We have had so many calls from people that have seen these huge formations. We have had call after call after call, from business people right down to ordinary folk in their cars.

There have been some very close encounters that have been quite unnerving for the people involved. We have had other people reporting orb sightings.

Despite this increase in the number of reports, one spokesperson from the Ministry of Defense said that they do not investigate each and every report. The representative explained, "We only investigate if there have been any objects in British air space that may be military."

The MoD spokesperson added that they come in the picture whenever the flying objects post a threat to security.

» a few sightings of my own

this isn't a surprise to me...

I've seen things around the skies of north wales on numerous occasions...

For my first sighting I find it more plausible that it was a man made military craft (it's well known that they use the valleys of North wales for testing military aircraft flight capability)... but what shocked me about the craft was how I only spotted it through chance... it resembled the Fiestar ship from Wipeout, but completely silver (it may have been another colour, but it reflected it's surroundings) and was speeding through the valley at obscene speeds.. I was walking down a mountain at the time so I got an eye level glimpse at the object for about 20 seconds... also worth noting, the ship didn't emit any noise whatsoever as if flew over the valley, but no sooner had it left my field of vision a massive sonic boom echoed throughout the hills for about 2 seconds.... such a noise isn't overly rare around these parts, but I've only seen that particular craft once (usually cloud cover around the Welsh hills restricts viewing capacity...

Another sighting occurred whilst walking up the same mountain with a ladyfriend of mine, I'd previously in the day been my usual bastard self and led her into a trap wherein she fell in a river... (I did it for teh lulz) so I was trying to, y'know, score some gentry points back... it was pretty dark during our walk so, as I often do whilst walking at night, I looked up at the stars. (the skies around rural wales, on a clear night, are a thing of beauty. You'd have to be a real freak not to want to look at the stars on a night such as the one I'm speaking of)... but yeah, I thought I saw a shooting star so I pointed it out to my friend... I the noticed that it was moving too slow to be a shooting star, more like the speed of a plane, but it lacked the linear motion of a plane, instead it "swarmed" about in an erratic fashion, uch like a fly around a light bulb... as I looked harder I could see no less than a dozen similar lights... me and the girl were both in awe at the display and neither of us could think of a more plausible explanation than "Z0MG! UFO!"

Nowadays I tend to look to the sky whenever I can, more often than not there's nothing more to admire than the unprecedented beauty of space itself, but sometimes, not often, but sometimes I do see those familiar lights... pay more attention to the sky at night and perhaps you'll see what I mean.

I highly recommend it... more often than not you'll see nothing, but during the late summer, when the nights are starting to get longer, but it's still warm enough to lay on the ground outside it can be a truly humbling experience stargazing... so far I've seen the aforementioned lights around North Wales and as far south as Cheddar Gorge in Summerset (as far as UK locations go), and whilst in the Estonian countryside (Eastern Europe) I saw other odd craft flying at high speed, but according to some of the local people I spoke to they were most likely experimental Russian aircraft (they still fly around Estonia illegally apparently)... Who knows..

I imagine some areas are more prone to sightings than others, much like you can go to some places and never see a plane flying over, whilst others have no less than 3 planes in view at any one time... or how when Nasa sends expeditions to planets or other "cosmic bodies" they often visit the lame area (perhaps this tactic is shared by ETs too, if indeed they are what the lights are)...

To return to my point, yes, look to the stars more, even if you dont see UFOs, the view is more awesome than most people realise.

and yes, wipeout ftw :P

 » UFO's and Harry Potter.

Okay, let's get rid of the Harry Potter thing first. When the article said Hilary Porter, I thought it said Harry Potter. And the second thing, I have always been fascinated about UFO's and aliens since I was a kid. My Dad would borrow library books and tapes on UFO's and aliens and was just fascinated. I, myself, have never seen a UFO. But I would like to. I've seen videos of bright lights that stay together and fly in the sky, but I have never seen them in person.
