Either it's yet another risk of packing in the pounds, or it's a case of spurious analysis of dietary habits. Still, as though growing obese didn't carry enough risks... Nutrition researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health  have claimed they've found that trans fats - liquid oils that are always bad for the heart - are now also bad for a woman's fertility, reports WebMD. A New York University nutritionist is however skeptical that this is so (not that she's defending trans fats, though).

The Harvard research found that women who had problems with ovulation also happened to eat more trans fats than more fertile women. The NYU nutritionist objected, though, noting that the research didn't account or adjust for many other infertility risk factors. The Harvard team did maintain that they had adjusted for known infertility risk factors.

Either way, isn't something that's known for clogging up the heart pipes bad enough already? Whether or not these findings are confirmed (and you can trust the scientific community to work on it - with appropriate funding, of course), eating healthy is still very good advice.
