Eat right and exercise regularly to avoid getting a belly like this - Image 1If you're looking for a good reason to keep your weight in check, here's one: new research conducted by Dr. Matthew R. Smith, an oncologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and his colleagues suggests that obese men possess twice the risk of dying from prostate cancer than non-obese men.

Dr. Smith and his research team studied the body mass index ratings (BMI) of 788 men with advanced prostate cancer. Dr. Smith and his researchers discovered that 12.2% of the men who had BMI ratings higher than thirty died within the next five years, as compared to 6.5% for the men with a low (less than twenty-five) BMI rating.

Note, however, that Dr. Smith's research doesn't confirm that obesity actually causes prostate cancer. Smith also wasn't sure if guys who lose weight after being diagnosed with prostate cancer would improve their chances of beating the disease. Nevertheless, it still wouldn't hurt to eat healthy and get regular exercise, now would it?
