A new study has provided some proof that anger might be actually useful and rewarding. Psychologists Maya Tamir and Christopher Mitchell of Boston College and James Gross of Stanford University found out that people would prefer to be angry when doing confrontational tasks. In their study, the researchers randomly placed participants in angry and neutral conditions by letting them play confrontational and non-confrontational video games. Results showed that people who were angry performed better when they were playing confrontational games. They were able to kill more enemies in the game. But when they were presented with the non-confrontational games, their performance was poor. From this, the researchers have reason to believe that people might not always want to be in pleasant disposition and would rather experience negative emotions if it's necessary. They said, "Such findings demonstrate that what people prefer to feel at any given moment may depend, in part, on what they might get out of it." |

» That makes no sense
OK yes I'll admit it shows anger can be beneficial. Kind of obvious though really, if it was only detrimental, we wouldn't have evolved to be capable of anger.
Just because it can improve our performance in certain things though, why does that suddenly mean we prefer to be pissed off?

» i can believe this
A girl i know... jesus christ. When she is ready to talk to someone about something that they did to her, HOLY ***** DO NOT GET IN HER WAY. Last time, she beat the crap out of the person who pissed her off and then yelled at him for 25 minutes about what he did. it was quite fun to watch. i feel the same way, when you want to confront someone, you want to make them feel scared and uncomfortable about what they did.
