Donate Blood - Image 1 Young patients suffering from Type I diabetes have been given a new lease on an insulin-free life by a breakthrough success in stem cell research.

Stem cell research has long been a controversial topic because of the fact that this type of cell was originally thought to exist only in developing human embryos. Taking the cells away from the embryo would mean killing it in the process, sparking a medical and ethic dilemma.

This type of stem cell research proves that the technology can be applied even if we don't sacrifice unborn humans to cure diseases. It was recently discovered that stem cells actually exist in human blood. By harnessing the stem cells and cultivating them to cure the immune system disorder that causes diabetes, patients are healed from the ailment.

To date 15 patients have been treated and all of them enjoyed great success. Here's to hoping that medical researchers find other means to use stem cells for man's benefit.

This is very good hopefully they can find a permanent cure to all diabetes patients (type 1&2). I won't be suprised if Bush wold be still stuborn about his verdict on stem cell research.

The government doesn't want scientists to find cures for diseases because if all diseases were cured they would lose a lot of money that is spent on the drugs used to treat it each year. Also the population would increase and the government doesn't want that because then there would be more poverty. That is why they ban stem cell research.

Im pretty sure they ban stemcell rescearch to gain the voting support of religious gropes and other people, not just one big conspiracy to kill everyone off.

The reason bush didnt allow EMBRYONIC Stem Cell research was because he thought scientists could find a better way to extract them than to kill babies. This is the EXACT reason he didnt bass that bill. So they would find a better way to do it. And waddya know? They did
