The next big thing in mobile technology is 4G, but NASA isn't content with that. While tech is still content with the number 3, the space agency already has plans to launch a new armada of satellites that will introduce 5G technology. Details in the full article. |

If you've ever wondered how the guys over at NASA could take all those awesome pictures of Saturn and its rings, you should know that it's all thanks to the little space probe that could, Cassini-Huygens. And in this update, we catch wind about this spacecraft getting an extra two years up in space to further explore Saturn. All the details in the full article. |

Since the launch Sputnik, the world's first artificial satellite, there have been around 6,000 satellites launched into space. Currently, only 800 of those are operational. What happened to the rest? Well, can you imagine a giant landfill of satellites orbiting the Earth? You don't have to - just go to the full article to see the images. |

If you had the money and the choice to go anywhere you wanted, where would you go? More importantly, would you restrict yourself only to places on the planet? With the new Lynx spacecraft being set for flight tests in 2010, you may wish to consider a tour of space, instead.More "spatial" news awaits you in the full article, right after the jump. |

It's another space mission gone wrong. A U.S. satellite was not able to head on to its planned orbit due to a failure by the Russian rocket carrying it. But not to worry, things can definitely be fixed although it can affect the lifespan of the satellite. Read more on this mission in the full article. |

Let's get our daily dose of scientific news before the day ends, shall we? Yesterday, the US Navy fired a single missile against a failing spy satellite, and contrary to many naysayers' claims, the plan was claimed to be very effective. Officials made it clear that the satellite generously exploded into bits - football-sized bits, they say - over the Pacific Ocean. More at the full story. |

Remember the news about the satellite that the US lost contact with back in late January? Well, someone believes that it might be harmful to denizens of planet Earth once it re-enters after all. The Pentagon's top brass that think shooting it down is the best way to stop NROL-21, the recon satellite, from burning up in the atmosphere and releasing its poisonous rocket fuel.*UPDATE*: They're gonna shoot it. And they've probably launched now! |
