Space Shuttle Endeavour to launch on March 11 - Image 1The Space Shuttle Endeavour is more than a decade old; its first flight to outer space was back in 1992. On March 11, it's set to return to space for its 21st flight.

Last time it was out in space, the shuttle endured some damage to its exterior, but its now up and raring to go again. In this latest space mission, of designation STS-123, the shuttle will be returning to the International Space Station.

Endeavour will be delivering a bunch of science stuff that sounds like it came from a sci-fi flick. The shuttle will be delivering the first section of the Kibo Laboratory and the two-armed robotic system called Dextre.

The US Air Force also commemorated the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of NASA by flying Thunderbirds by the Kennedy Space Center, where the Endeavour sits in wait for its launch. Piece of trivia: also in celebration of its 50th anniversary, NASA broadcasted the Beatles song "Across the Universe" towards Polaris. They have a weird sense of humor.
