Research finding finally shed light on actually understanding migraines - Image 1 Recent articles about migraine research show that

people prone to experiencing migraines have peculiar structural differences in their brains, specifically in the somatosensory cortex, the part of the human brain particularly concerned with processing pain as well as other sensory information.

Evidently, the somatosensory cortex of people who were prone to migraine attacks were 21% thicker than that of people who rarely experienced migraines.

Whether or not the  differentiating thickness of the somatosensory cortex between individuals is either what's actually causing migraines or is one of it's products is still in the process of verification by on going migraine research being conducted by the likes of Mayo Clinic Neurology Professor David Dodick, among others

Although frequently taken lightly migraines are no laughing matter. It is considered to be a neurological disease whose attacks can range from the benign to the life threatening. At the moment, though available migraine medications are expensive and that these medicines offer no permanent cure from having them, these findings may provide us that much needed step to finally understand this disease, to finally answer pressing questions that are off shoots of the migraine disease, and, thus, provide a lasting cure for all.
