When you ask for an angel to help you, you usually won't expect the said angel to come in the form of your boss. Lisa White badly needed a kidney transplant, and quite unexpectedly, her boss valiantly went under the knife to give her the needed organ.

White had contracted polycystic kidney disease, a deadly form of kidney disease that is known to genetically pass on through generations and generations of family lines.

Her boss, Chris Jernigan, did not have any qualms with supplying one of his kidneys to his secretary, his friend and colleague for 11 years in Southmountain Children and Family Services in Nebo.

"I care very much about every employee and want to do everything I can to make it a better work place and to make their lives better," said Jernigan. And make his secretary's life better he did, indeed. The kidney transplant was successful, and White was able to come back to the office last Wednesday. Added Jernigan, "This was just one more thing that I was able to do to help out a good friend and an employee."

White is very thankful for the unsolicited help she received from her boss, of all people.

I just hope that there is more people who will see this and come forward and become donors because it’s a wonderful thing that he has done for me. I feel the best I’ve felt in a really long time.
