this is a must see.
would be a huge breakthrough
Millennium Falcon here we come!
its called casmir effect. would change nothing in physics. Its been theoretically possible for decades.
Interesting... So if light can travel faster than the speed of light, that could potentially mean that our universe is younger than some scientists speculate if light from distant stars is experiencing quantum tunneling.
If this is proven, the Theory of Relativity is just that, theory. I knew the speed of light could be broken. All those years learning about this bogus theory and I wondered why it did not make sense.
ya, you must have been waisting your time. considering that if you really understood relativity you'd understand that casmir forces can be broken which allows for these phenomenon. relativity was already proven 40 years ago anyway.
very *****ing interesting indeed
einstein just got f'd in the a
lolz
yay germany!
Wow, considering any law of physics or mathematics has to be proven with the constant or something in relation to the constant (the constant is the speed of light) everything worked out... now we learn that the constant isn't constant and destroy all proof for modern physics both relative or quantum and destroy mathematical laws (any of which are proven on a cartesian plane) well anything that involves well anything. So who's up for rewriting all of mathematics and being a genius... To every bit off math and physics I have one thing for you PWND F*UCKING PWND!
I wanna rewrite math and be a genius!!! Lol
wait wait wait
this doesn't mean that the speed of light was broken only that certain particles managed to move than other particles through the same medium
the speed of light is slowed down when not moving through a vacuum, and, as far as I can tell, these prisms are not vacuums but rather solid objects with billions upon billions of molecules in them
Im sorry but i find this a load of BS. Einstein was a genius i doubt these screw balls have the means to prove this is a fact. So until i hear i will put this in a rumor bin. Thanks QJ for this lovely story.
Make a spaceship with this technology and we have WARP-SPEED! WEEEEE!!!
"warp-speed!weeeee!!!" lol frekinin a man
Quantum tunneling doesn't mean that they travelled faster than the speed of light. It covered an actual distance greater than the other particles in the same time, but the same relative length. Quantum tunneling is more or less a way of particles to 'skip' space, so they don't have to traverse them (like instantaneous teleportation). So while they made some 'travel' faster than the speed of light, it didn't actually break the barrier. This isn't new news, it's just a practical demonstration of a long-standing physical theory.
None seeing the nonsense? are they saying that: "light can go faster than light".... ???
i'm pretty sure Einstein said that nothing can go faster than the speed of light...except for light, of course. This is still interesting news.
Einstein said nothing can accelerate to the speed of light, in this experiment the light was already travelling at the speed of light
an actual physicist here. helps me feel better about the human race knowing that someone else understands these concepts.
OMG SPEEDHAX!...
i already knew that the speed of light could be broken cause dead box 360s are broken before the speed of the red ring lights of death. dead box 360 sucks. psn id dylantalon. xbl id dylantalon.
looks like somebodies begin 2 be my 8!tch. im gunna rip ur head off n eat it like a cherry tomatoe, then cut u with this fork if u dont shut the fruck up
stay on topic 8itch
i had no idea what they were saying in that article.
It only makes sence that light could be urged to move faster by condensing it.
The problem isnt the impossibility of einstines claims.
Its that people really didnt care enough about the subject to research it theirselves.
but hell, lets just all take and old dead mans word for it why dont we..
If you are going to comment on the article, then don't try to sound smarter than the people who wrote it because you look like a dumbass. Sorry for the pointless message, but half of the people who read this stuff don't know what the hell is being explained.
I laugh at all of these dumb idiots in here. If you knew anything about physics, or even taken a high physics course, you would know that this phenomenon is called the casimir effect. Keep your panties out of a bundle, the theory of general relativity has yet to be disproven.
i said that up top already. your a bit late.
