The plant in question

QJ Blogger Max F. once told me that when a dog bites a person it isn't news. What's news is when a person bites a dog. Well in this particular case, a plant eats a mouse.

Botanists discovered a partially digested mouse inside a carnivorous plant in the Botanical Gardens in Lyon, France. This was after several people complained about a horrible rotting smell in the area.

The carnivorous plant that is native to the Philippines is the first to actually prove that plants can indeed eat small mammals. It was previously thought that the only things that were in a carnivorous plant's diet were small insects. Judging from the picture the plant in question looks like a pitcher plant. As to how the mouse managed to get into the deadly plant, the source didn't give out any particulars.

By the way, dogs were once regularly eaten in the Philippines, and are (in some places) considered excellent meals to be eaten with beer.
