Pentagon, French security agency comment on wayward U.S. spy satellite - Image 1We learned a couple of days ago that an out-of-control U.S. spy satellite is expected to hit Earth sometime during late February or early March. The reports made clear that the said satellite carries hazardous materials and it is unknown where exactly it will fall.

To prevent fear from spreading to the public, National Security Council spokesperson Gordon Johndroe immediately said that proper government officials and organizations are already monitoring the matter.

True enough, the Pentagon has finally spoke and clarified that this event is close to being usual given their history and experience. Department of Defense spokesman Bryan Whitman further discussed:

We are aware of it, we are monitoring it. We track all man-made objects that are orbiting the Earth. Since we've been in the business of doing that, for 50 years or so, there have been more than 17,000 man-made objects that have re-entered the Earth atmosphere.

Specialists, furthermore, added that the said spy satellite is dangerous because it is packed with highly toxic hydrazine fuel. But a French security agency has went on record and explained that the fuel will burn as soon as the satellite enters the atmosphere.

and I always thought espionage was illegal... well, if it's good enough for the hand that feeds then it's good enough for me...

I'm off to spy on my neighbours daughter... the location of re-entry is far easier to predict in these regards too ;)
