Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of China united all of lowland China and started the construction of the Great Wall.  His tomb in Xi'An is famous for its terracotta army.

Archaeologists first discovered three underground vaults that compose the tomb, each containing masses of terracotta figures; no two figures are alike.  Recently, a new chamber was found above the tomb. The room is about a hundred feet deep.  Pyramid in shape with staircase-like walls, archaeologists surmise that this room was meant to receive the emperor's spirit.

China has not given permission to excavate the new chamber. They are believed to be waiting for archaeologists to perfect their methods before allowing them to excavate.  All the data about the room was gathered over 5 years (since 2002) through remote sensing and radar equipment.
