James Hansen, director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York had a few choice words regarding the critical state of our planet right now.He mentioned just how badly the fossil fuel industry was trying to cover up the extent of the global warming problem from the public and that they should open their eyes to the truth of the matter instead. A recently submitted paper by Hansen called for the phasing out of all coal-fired plants by 2030. He further outlined that these plants should be taxed for their emissions until then and that there should be a ban on building new plants unless they are designed to trap and segregate the carbon dioxide they emit. Hansen was rather stern with his views of how the fossil fuels industry was misleading the public with its optimistic views. This was what he had to say regarding this: The industry is misleading the public and policy makers about the cause of climate change. And that is analogous to what the cigarette manufacturers did. They knew smoking caused cancer, but they hired scientists who said that was not the case. While he admitted that his outspoken views transcend outside the boundaries of scientists as researchers rather than public policy advocates, he does so because "in this particular situation we've reached a crisis". Hopefully, Hansen's rather forward address to the fossil fuels industry will have some effect with the future of our planet. |

And the "hiring of scientists" by fossil fuel industries is any different than Al Gore "hiring scientists" to fuel his carbon offset industry how? How is it different from scientists WHOSE SOLE INCOME depends on GRANTS given them to study this so-called global climate change (I thought it was Global Warming, what, we're cooling now? Let's blame global cooling on greenhouse gasses too.)
Fact is, nobody in this debate (if the people demanding that global warming is happening will let you debate) is without some sort of motivational backing. James Hansen has no less of an interest in promoting this cause than Exxon has in denying it.

Wow Oriyeh, it's funny how ignorant and stupid you are. I guess that probably happens when you don't know wtf you're talking about.
What the hell motivation do people have for saving the world except... SAVING THE WORLD... jesus, you equate the oil industry with al gore? You have a lot to learn... the oil industry is controlling everything because nothing runs without oil! Oil controls everything... the only thing that can stop it from both ruining our planet and controlling everything is to create new ways to make energy.
Oil is stupid anyway, it's going to run out! Then what? The world will be thrown into a complete nightmare, all because no one wanted to recycle or create renewable energy.
Stupid kids need to learn things...

But one thing i cant help but wonder, couldnt all the drilling for oil create empty pockets in the soil which could eventually cause the ground to collaspe.
