Par 4 Created in the Lab Produces Healthy Cell - Friendly Protein - Image 1 A breakthrough has been made recently in the ongoing fight to combat cancer. Recent research led to the creation of lab-bred mouse which possesses a distinct gene within itself that enables it to produce a specific protein. This protein is perceived to be the key to the future of cancer therapy free from debilitating side effects.

The protein found in this "super" mouse comes from a specific gene known as Par-4. The protein only targets and inflicts harm against cancer tumors and not healthy cells, which is a step forward from chemotherapy and other anti-cancer drugs.

With the gene, the mouse was overly invincible to several types of cancer. Experiments conducted have proven that the mouse has become immune to various forms of the disease such as liver, prostate, breast, pancreatic, head, and neck cancer.

According to Kentucky University Researcher, Dr. Vivek Rangnekar, all cancer patients face great risks each time they go into clinics and hospitals to undergo chemotherapy due to potentially painful side effects caused by the radiation therapy, notwithstanding nausea and hair loss.

If efforts to use the protein are successful, a plausible cure to cancer without the side effects will finally be a reality.
