Despite the number of problems that the International Space Station has been experiencing over the past few years, the construction of the world's foremost space outpost is still ongoing. It recently got a new upgrade of solar panels from the space shuttle Atlantis when the space shuttle recently docked with the ISS.

The current configuration of the ISS now includes several modules such as an robotic arm, another impressive set of solar panels, and a supply ship. As seen from the image above, you can take a look at the marked differences between the two pictures taken of the ISS two years ago and its current state.

The project completion date for the space station is slated for 2010 and will continue operations all the way through 2016. The ISS will continue to have regular visits from various other spacecraft missions to help see through its completion.
