Steorn: Truth or Fiction? All great truths begin as blasphemies, says the main page of their website, but George Bernard Shaw's quote couldn't sum this up any better than it already has.

The Irish company Steorn has supposedly created a machine that produces free energy through magnetic fields. Free energy is basically that: energy created from nothing, and is thus an inexhaustible resource.

This is nice and all, but the problem with it, as scientists say, is the entire idea of creating energy in that way goes against some very fundamental laws of physics. According to the first law of thermodynamics (always wanted to say that), energy can only be converted from one state to another, but cannot be created or destroyed. Steorn's technology violates this very concept, and the Steorn free energy technology is being met with skepticism. The company, however, issued a statement in the Economist, offering a challenge to scientists worldwide to test their tech.

Information on Steorn is popping up everywhere, leading to the origin of the Steorn as an e-business company. The skeptics claim that this is either a very elaborate hoax or publicity stunt to get it back on the market as an e-advertising firm. Even more surprising is the idea put forth (on Steorn's forums no less) that the symbology on the site is reminiscent of Halo 3, specifically the honeycomb on the registration page.

A lot of red herrings and talk around different circles, from physicists, economists and gamers alike. We're not sure what to think though: Is the greater impossibility the site being related to Halo 3, or that someone's actually created free energy? Hopefully, the latter will be true.

In any case, here's a YouTube version of their video on the Steorn download page, courtesy of... well, AlanSteorn.

can u imagine how many enemies they are going to have? it's awesome!though. but they are going to lose lots of friends and gain new ones. free energy, like science fiction. wow ... many big rich guys are going to lose lots, lots of money. well, they being getting rich overpricing the oil. oh, well, who cares about them.

If it were me, I would have kept it a secret until all testing was over and done with.
Do any oif you remember the father son team that was able to trasmit messages across the univers(theoretically) using gravitational fields? No? Because they disappeared within days of releasing their findings. I fear the same will happen here. The huge oil/gas/energy conglomorates will see to it that this will never come to fruition. I pray for you all!!! I hope the men in black do not show up at your doors........

You think that if these guys could actually do this, they'd still be alive? I'm no Fox Mulder, but I agree with #6. OPEC wouldn't have a problem rubbing out a hand full of people to secure their future. I mean, what happened to the electric car? Solar power, maybe?

just look @ the vid. it´s so apparent that this is not real. The marketing guy presenting such a groundbreaking invention? yeah right. the whole style of the video is screaming hoax...
the full speed n64 emu on psp was way more credible than this ;-)

i've heard about other stuff like this and i'd like to think its true. but hasn't it been done before? and then the cia turns up and takes all the papers and kills everyone involved?

but, it doesnt go against the first law of thermodynamics because its using the magnetic energ7 that is all around us and converting it into energy that we can use. the only problem with this kind of energy would be that it could not be metered....which is why (supposedly) the governmentor MIB do not want us to get a hold of it...if it cant be metered it cant be controlled

 » GOOD JOB

This will own the govt's plot to control every *****ing thing that happens, hopefully they will make cars that use this same free energy concept. The problem is that the gov't wants to have cars using oil forever i mean cmmon we have been using gas as fuel since the 1940s when cars were first made we r in the 21st century we have all this advanced technology why the hell are we still using the same technology from the 40's?

» its real i have been fallowing this

Ooops! sorry for double post, Typo!! for the past year i have been fallowing this story. Its real free energy is as real as the magnet holding up your notes on the fridge. These genorators will change how the world works, if these poor souls can manage to not get put in jail or can capture the minds of people before the big oil / government / fox news, trys to stop them or disscredit the idea.

there is a water powered car as well, not to mention many other breakthroughs in medical feild the usa government has been supressing tecnolagy for decades. please look at these links. http://www.mufor.org/nmachine.html http://www.prahlad.org/pub/bearden/scalar_wars.htm http://befreetech.com/media.htm

I don't think this is creating energy if it is real. That is just impossible. It may be converting other forms of energy into electrical energy with minimal loss of energy during the conversion. If so and if this is real, then this could be huge.

Deceptive Simplicity

The DePalma generator is essentially a simple magnetized flywheel, ie a magnetized cylindrical conductor rotating at high speed with the help of a motor. His astonishing claim is that the present versions of the N machine can generate up to five times more power than it consumes. This, of course, defies the basic law of the conservation of energy, which says that the output of energy cannot be more than the input. Most physicists simply refuse to look at DePalma's findings and dismiss his theories out of hand.

Yet "proof of principle" for his invention was apparently provided when a large N machine, dubbed the Sunburst, was built in 1978 in Santa Barbara California. The Sunburst machine was independently tested by Dr. Robert Kincheloe, professor emeritus of electrical engineering at Stanford University. in his 1986 report (presented to the Society for Scientific Exploration, San Francisco, 6/21/86), Kincheloe noted that the drag of the rotating magnetized gyroscope is only 13 to 20 percent of a conventional generator operating at an ideal 100 percent efficiency, the DePalma N machine could produce electricity at around 500 percent efficiency." I would advize you people to read the links i provided before you make a comment. It allows for a more informed, and factual debate.

simple, they talk a lot, and all for publicity, like their company is made for?

I mean, I saw a lot of scientist conferance and all, but this more look like the kind of add you see on the net that tells you how easy you can make money like 1000$ per day for 20minutes of typing on a computer, I mean, this is simply a big advertisement campain for their company, you surely already saw that: talk about this in good, talk about this in bad, as long as you talk about this!

this is a SPAM and nothing more, if not they would have just reached the media and proche their technology, they would be bilionnaires now, anybody can understand they didn't pass the chance to prove they are right just for fun, but simply because they are like a book full of blank pages with a great cover.

Don't trust this kind of company who just say: wow, it's wonderfull, but I won't talk about the way it works, and I won't register my discovry so nobody can copy us, lol. I mean, I did the same kind of videos in my school back in high school when we had to make an advertising video with friends, and you trust them? ...lame.

» They have been around for some time

I suppose they should not leverage the tech to there own benefit. They will be making allot off of this Resource (check links the power company has to pay them for exsess power used...but that was in plan A not plan b), but saying a consumer friendly advertizement is the wrong way to get the buzz out about there company , stratagy, and facts is crazy.

I suppose they should Show a clip of 2 hill billies playing a banjo and drinking moonshine to get the word out, who knows it might work, i mean look at who our president is lol. I recommend you research there marketing angle, as they clearly lay out , and maybe you will understand better.

I already made a homemade free energy machine but I need to get it patented.
