Another alarming study regarding global warming has surfaced, revealing that tropical species are also in trouble. According to the UCLA and the University of Washington, warming can cause population of animals and insects in the tropics to decline, which adversely hurts the ecosystem. The director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies James Hansen had several choice words directed towards the fossil fuels industry regarding the critical state of our planet right now. His rather forward address expounds on how the industry was trying to cover up the extent of the global warming problem from the public and how badly their byproducts are affecting the environment. Have you been feeling a bit warm lately? You may eventually get some relief - UN meteorologists have said that temperatures this year will decrease slightly. Promising development to protect the atmosphere is underway, as NASA just shed light on the launch of its Arctic Research of the Composition of the Troposphere from Aircraft and Satellites (ARCTAS). What's believed to be the most extensive field campaign ever to study the chemistry of the Arctic's lower atmosphere, the project employs three airborne laboratories that intends to explain how pollutants cause climate changes in the Arctic sea.
