Pterosaurs, the flying reptiles of Ancient Earth, have always been imagined as gull-like creatures, swooping down from their flight to pluck up their food from the ground.

A new study from the University of Portsmouth claims that this image may be false. The researchers put forth a new theory, saying that pterosaurs actually hunted for their meals on land, like storks.

They came up with this theory by studying azhdarchids, a kind of pterosaur. A study of their anatomy, fossils, and footprints all suggest that they were land-stalkers. They probably won't be chasing any vans from Jurassic Park on foot anytime soon though.
