Company claims to have cloned humans for stem cells - Image 1

Sounds like the makings of a Bioshock tragedy: Stemagen Corp, a company based in California, claims to have made five human embryos using cloning technology. They were created with the intention of harvesting them for stem cells.

The DNA from the five embryos came from the skin cells of two adult males. The claim has been met with skepticism and caution owing to the fact that human cloning has been the center of a faked report back in 2004.

An inevitable reaction too is the looming threat of controversy. For one thing, President George W. Bush is against the use of human embryos to make stem cells, although most experts agree that stem cells from embryos are the most potent kind.

So far, experts are trying to verify whether the embryos are indeed clones or whether it is again another faked report. If proved true, the Stemagen team would be the first to outwardly claim that they have claimed humans as a source of stem cells.
