Chupacabra - Image 1

The Loch Ness Monster. Bigfoot. The Tooth Fairy. Legendary beings of untold origin. For as long as stories of them have existed, people have done their absolute best in trying to capture a specimen of these mysterious creatures. Unfortunately for us, none of these attempts have ever succeeded, the prizes proving to be much too elusive even to the most technologically-advanced approaches.

But even the cutting edge of technology can't replicate luck, as a healthy amount of it may have helped in one of these enigmas to turn up in Phylis Canion's ranch in Texas, namely the goat-killing, blood-sucking Chupacabra. At least, that's what the local ranch owner - and a veterinarian of the Main Street Animal Hospital in Victoria - thinks, with the head of the mythical creature locked away safely in a freezer, hidden from public view.

One of the three 40-pound bodies found outside Phylis' ranch, the former hunter from Africa saved it for the sole purpose of finding out just what the animal's ancestry was through DNA testing. After which, she'll have it mounted for posterity, sharing a spot with the rest of her trophies of exotic animals.

So what does the 'Chupacabra' look like? It's certainly no cuddly poodle, that's for sure. Big-eared, large fanged teeth, grayish-blue skin with practically no fur - it's not particularly a friendly sight. "It is one ugly creature," Canion says.

Could it be something else? Probably, but there's a bit of evidence as to why it could be a legitimate Chupacabra. Like her neighbors, Canion had been the victim of suspected Chupacabra feeding frenzies, with 26 of her chickens killed, drained completely of blood. That fact alone coincides with the Chupacabra's legendary quirk of sucking the blood from its victims rather than hunting for meat, and thus eliminates other explanations as to what the specimen could be.

Of course, until the DNA testing results have been released, the verdict is still out on whether or not the animal found was in fact a Chupacabra. One thing that's clear, though, is that the Chupacabra itself may not be a monster at all, but rather a strange breed of dog that prefers blood for sustenance.

Travis Schaar, the veterinarian from Main Street Animal Hospital, says the possibility is definitely there. "I'm not going to tell you that's not a chupacabra. I just think in my opinion a chupacabra is a dog."

Well, that's one potential monster down. What about the other 'mysteries', though? Is Bigfoot merely a mutation of gorillas with big feet? Loch Ness a whale with a long neck? It may not be long before another discovery like this is found. Here's hoping they catch a living, breathing specimen then.

 » Its a Wolf

Its a texas blue wolf who's suffered from a parasite infection. It causes the skin to itch, and when the wolf scratches itself, the hair comes off. They usually die from it though.

This was just on KTLA News over here in LA. The interviewed a scientist or something and thats what he said.
