Do you often wish that you could read the minds of others? While this might arguably be difficult, seeing the brains of others can be done easily in a small, little-known room full of diseased human brains in Lima, Peru.

Diana Rivas runs this brain museum to educate people. She claims it is the only public display of human brains in the world, housing a total of 2,998 brains and still growing. Rivas might not be able to read minds, but she says that it only takes her a few seconds to look at a brain to know what afflicted its owner.

Rows and rows of diseased human brains floating in preserving liquid line the walls of the museum. There is a brain afflicted with Alzheimer's, one afflicted by the human form of mad cow disease, and several human fetuses with neurological disorders. Yet these brains were not gathered there to merely make its viewers queasy. Rivas claims that the brains are there to inform how brain diseases look like, and realize that many of them could be healed and prevented.

Rivas points out the differences between a healthy brain and brains damaged by alcohol and drug abuse. "It's true. Alcohol and drugs kill brain cells." she says. The museum has been collecting diseased samples of brains since 1942.
