Death Star from the black hole hits galaxy According to NASA observatories, a black hole has released a jet of energy that has blasted a galaxy. The black hole is the center of one of the two galaxies revolving around each other.

These galaxies form a system known as 3C321. The larger of the two has been observed to have released a jet of energy from its center, and the smaller one has swung into this jet's destructive path. Profound effects on nearby planets may be a result from this violent clash.

Dan Evans, a scientist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics comments, "We've seen many jets produced by black holes, but this is the first time we've seen one punch into another galaxy like we're seeing here." These jets are the main goal for astrophysical research.

Traveling at near light speed and with high amounts of radiation such as  X-rays and gamma-rays, this jet could severely damage earth-like planets having their uppermost protective layers of ozone destroyed.

But apart from this, something positive might come from it. After the initial destruction brought by this encounter, it could introduce the formation of large numbers stars and planets.
