You might want to reconsider how safe your drinking water is now that the Associated Press was able to reveal the things that they were able to uncover. They found out that pharmaceuticals drugs and others were present in the water.

It's hard enough to find clean water these days. And to find out that antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones are in your drinking water, well that just is shocking!

Now, you guys might be curious to know how these things got into the life-giving element. Well, people take in pills. Whatever is not taken in by the body gets flushed down the toilet. Next comes the water treatment which cleans the water of anything that can harm people. Surprisingly, most treatments do note remove all drug residue.

The AP did a five-month inquiry on drinking water supplies in 24 major metropolitan areas. Cities included were from from Southern California to Northern New Jersey and from Detroit to Louisville, Kentucky.

Members of the AP national Investigative Team went through a lot in order to get their findings. They had to review scientific reports, analyzed water databases, visited environmental study sites and treatment plants, and interviewed 230 officials which included academics and scientists. In addition, they surveyed the 50 largest cities and a dozen of major water providers.

With the AP being able to reveal something crucial as this, assistant administrator for water at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Benjamin H. Grumbles said, "We recognize it is a growing concern and we're taking it very seriously."
